1. Intro

Yes, we all know that "Big Brother" is the most boring show on TV. And the fact that it's airing six nights a week is comical. And the only reason anyone is watching it is because we miss "Survivor" and there's nothing much else on during the summer. But "Big Brother" actually did something that had me guffawing the other day.

As many of you know, a few weeks ago the houseguests on BB got a gift of a fat little pug dog named Chiquita. (Since then, Chiquita has actually been beating many of the human houseguests in the AOL popularity polls.) Last week, Chiquita suddenly disappeared. The houseguests found a note that said that they should go outside and see if they could find their dog. So they went outside into their backyard, and there to greet them were over fifty pug dogs of all different shapes, sizes and colors. Some of them were tan, some black. Some of them were puppies, some old. Some of them were small and delicate, some huge overgrown monsters pugs. One only had three legs. The houseguests desperately tried to seach amongst all the friendly dogs to find the one for whom they had been caring for the last few weeks. Meanwhile, the dog crap accumulated on the grass.

It turned out that the real Chiquita was hidden away in a closet, but that didn't even so much matter. Just seeing all these pugs running around in the yard and the houseguests madly searching among them had me laughing so hard that I wasn't even paying attention to where their dog actually was.

Oh, thank God that show will be over this week.

On a totally different note, the premiere of "Grosse Pointe" did not disappoint last Friday. If you were ever a fan of "Beverly Hills 90210," or ever a fan of any TV drama, or even if you were never a fan of any TV drama, this show is for you. From the desperate producers, to the haughty starlet, to the naive newcomer, to the insecure rich girl, to the dumb stud-muffin, this show has it all. Everything you ever suspected about your favorite stars, everything you ever read in a tabloid magazine, everything you wanted to see when the cameras stopped rolling, is in this show. I just hope it can keep up with the frenetic pace it set in the pilot.

2. Letters from the viewing audience

From Gerard:
No. NO! No no no NO! Fox is NOT sorely needing anything at ALL like 90210, or Melrose or Party of 69. In fact, the world is not sorely needing any of that. I applaud Fox for growing up, like all networks must do, and sticking to programming they know. Cartoons. Hopefully Fox learned a valuable lesson with those shows and they won't try anything that even remotely resembles them. But history is bound to repeat. I thought the nation learned its lesson with New Kids on The Block. Now, 98 degrees later, we're right back In Sync with BackStreet Boys.

Letters from the viewing audience are always welcome. Please email any opinions, questions, comments, or random thoughts to TK at tk@tktv.net with the subject of "letters." Letters may be edited for length or content.

4. TV Trivia

Last week's question was: in which movie did Heather Locklear and Charlie Sheen (now co-starring on ABC's "Spin City") co-star in the 1990s?

First prize goes to Leanne S. Congratulations!

Honorable mentions (sorry, without prizes, but keep trying) go to Jennifer L. and Allan J.

The correct answer was "Money Talks," which was recently shown on TV.

This week's question is: in what series did Sara Rue ("Popular") have a recurring role in which she was wheelchair-bound?

Don't forget, this trivia quiz is sponsored by myTVshop, where you can get all your favorite TV merchandise.

5. Favorite quotes of the week

From a repeat of the pilot episode of Charmed
Andy: Let me ask you something, Morris. Do you believe in UFOs?
Morris: Hell, no.
Andy: Neither do I. But do you believe there are people out there who believe in UFOs?
Morris: Yes, but I think they're crazy.
Andy: Well, then why can't you believe there are people who believe they are witches?
